Windows 7 & 8.1 goes End of Support 31 October 2016

On the 31 October 2016 Windows 7 and 8.1 will reach End of Support Status (EOS)

End of support refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides automatic fixes, updates, or online technical assistance. This is the time to make sure you have the latest available update or service pack installed. Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information. For more information go to Microsoft Support Lifecycle.

What should you do?

  1. Ask Mear Technology for  asset report for existing customers this is a free of charge service that we can use to identify all the Windows 7 machines on your network and their approximate age. If you are not an existing customer contact us to discuss your options, we are here to help.
  2. Get a quotation to upgrade these machines to Windows 10 and gt a quotation to supply a new machine. It may not be the best course of action to upgrade old hardware and a better investment to replace this.
  3. Decline the quotation or accept the proposal and Mear Technology will arrange a time to complete the work.
