About Mear Technology

Mear Technology is a growing Managed IT Services provider delivering reliable, responsive, and secure technology solutions to businesses across the UK. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and building long‑term relationships with our clients.

We are an honest, caring organisation looking for like‑minded individuals with a curious and empathetic approach to technology. As a small, close‑knit team, we do not pigeonhole people into a single role. Instead, we offer broad exposure across the services we provide, including IT support, networking, broadband, telecoms, security, and on‑site client work.

Based in Eliburn, Livingston, we work together in the office as a team. We believe learning, collaboration, and professional development are best achieved by working side‑by‑side and supporting one another.

The Role

We are looking for a Graduate IT Support Technician (Level 1) to join our team and begin their career in IT.

This role goes beyond traditional first‑line support. You will be encouraged to take ownership of issues from start to finish, with guidance and support from experienced engineers, allowing you to build confidence, technical skills, and real‑world understanding.

This position is offered as a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, with a strong intention to offer a permanent role to the right candidate, subject to performance and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first‑line IT support via phone, email, and ticketing system
  • Take ownership of support issues from initial report through to resolution, with support from senior staff
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and basic networking issues
  • Assist with on‑site and off‑site deployments, including installations and upgrades
  • Support the setup and deployment of laptops, desktops, and network equipment
  • Gain exposure to networking, broadband, telecoms, and security solutions
  • Assist senior engineers with project and installation work
  • Support the preparation of quotations and hardware recommendations
  • Maintain clear documentation and contribute to internal knowledge articles
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times

Our Approach to Learning

At Mear Technology, we believe the best way to learn is by seeing problems through from start to finish. We do not take issues away from Level 1 unnecessarily; instead, we encourage ownership while ensuring experienced team members are always available to provide guidance, mentoring, and support.

You will never be expected to work alone without help, and responsibilities will grow naturally as your skills and confidence develop.

  • Comfortable communicating with both technical and non‑technical users

  • A degree in IT, Computing, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • A genuine interest in technology and IT support
  • Good communication and problem‑solving skills
  • A valid UK driving licence (required for on‑site client visits)

What We Offer

  • A 12‑month development opportunity
  • Hands‑on experience across all aspects of an IT services business
  • Exposure to real client environments, both on‑site and off‑site
  • Close mentoring from experienced engineers
